I Got This

Updated: Aug 31, 2019

I got this. I got this.

Now there is a phrase that I have said either out loud to others or to myself on many occasions. I have said it when I have either felt completely in control or when I needed to give myself a pep talk to psych myself up when I felt weak. It can mean either a little pat on the back for reinforcement or a little nudge for some encouragement as if to say, You can do it or Go get this!

We are all human and there are days we feel strong and days we feel weak.

There are days that we may just wake up feeling like we can take on the world like a superhero, like Superman and Wonder Woman.

I mean maybe for us we may not be trying to save the human race from villains but have you ever just had days that you felt like you could tackle all those things that you may have been putting off?

Then on the flip side you may have days when you don‘t have the energy or desire to attempt to do anything?

Maybe you have been putting off making certain calls to people, organizing, fixing something that needed fixing, or just making time for yourself? There are the days that you may feel energized and motivated to take it all on and then there are days when you don’t want to even get out of bed.

Its sometimes interesting how we can have these types of emotions within days or even moments of each other. All it takes sometimes is an external factor whether it’s a person or a situation that arises to set our emotions on a major high or a major low.

How can we be more in control of those emotional peaks and valleys? I mean sure we all don’t mind when things are really good in our lives. It’s not like we will ever say to the universe:

Whoa. Wait! Things are too good and I’m too happy right now, let’s dial it back a notch.

No. I doubt it.

Most of us can agree that we would never say that. What about when we are affected by days that may not be as positive? Those days we feel weak and when it seems everything is going wrong. How do we climb out of that negative mindset and tell ourselves,

I GOT THIS?

Can we actually have that much power over our own minds? Can we change our circumstances by our thinking?

There was a time that I would have said no way. I would have rolled my eyes at all those who would have told me I had the power to change anything. Now I believe differently. I believe that we DO have the power and strength within ourselves to change things.

We may not always be able to change our circumstances or events that happen in our lives but we can change the way we react to them.

Is it always easy? No. Sometimes it feels impossible. Some days we may feel we can take on everything we set out to do and that’s great. Some days we can move mountains but on the days if all we can move is a stone, it’s okay. It’s also okay to look for and ask for help when we need it.

We all need extra encouragement or help at times.

We just have to keep saying to ourselves

I got this.

No matter how big or how small the step, the desire to move forward no matter how fast or slow is what matters most.

You got this! 👊🏻🌸
